To wear pearl jewellery with gorgeous looking robe on promenade day is a superb idea and a preferential choice for most girls. The North American promenade – a word first seen in the 1890s as a shortened version of ‘promenade’ – has not digressed from its original definition. It’s a lesson in etiquette and social talents, particularly in a supposed classless society that flourished on the ‘American dream’ and valued behaviour over breeding. Many claim that promenade is excessive or insubstantial and wasteful or tacky.
